Microprism focusing screen

Couple weeks ago I was having dim-sum lunch with some former co-workers. One thing lead to another, we started to talk about DSLR. One complain I had for today’s DSLRs was that they did not have microprism focusing screen which used to have in the old days. The microprism focusing screen that I have on my Nikkormat FS is a split screen and I love it!

One explanation is that today’s auto focus (AF) technology is so advanced that people do not need manual anymore. There is manual focus function on DSLR, yet, the focusing screen is so cripple that makes you want to switch back to AF right the way!

Today, my buddy Kirk told me that there’s a company which sells microprism focusing screens for DSLR. I took a quick look at the website, and they have different screens for various DSLRs. They compares different screens that they sell and provide installation instruction (http://www.focusingscreen.com/privacy.php) with step-by-step pictures (http://www.focusingscreen.com/shipping.php)

My buddy Kirk ordered a screen from them. I hope to hear from him soon so that I can give you updates.
